Brown Fused Alumina
Brown fused alumina is a tough, hard material (Mohs hardness 9) with high strength, excellent wear and corrosion resistance and good thermal conductivity. It is produced by controlled melting of calcined bauxite in an electric arc furnace. Furthermore, BFA is the perfect media for removing rust, mill scale, and surface contamination due to its high bulk density and hardness. The consistent particle size allows for a uniform surface finish and coverage.
Additionally, BFA has a low friability which allows it to be recirculated on average, up to seven times. These characteristics reduce abrasive consumption, clean up, and disposal costs, increasing profitability.
Brown Fused Alumina is used for many applications, including refractory, abrasive material, sand-blasting, functional filter and resin grinder. It’s suitable for wet or dry surface preparation, cleaning, deburring and cutting of various metals, ceramics, glass, wood, rubber, plastic, stone and composite materials.
